That simple goal inspired Adams to offer an opportunity for individuals who are interested in becoming trainers or assistant trainers.
"To attend a weekend clinic in reining is often costly and the information is limited
because of time constraints," Sherry explained.
In brainstorming a better option, Sherry and her trainer Bud Lyon have designed a program where international riders can come to Texas and complete an Internship in the heart of American reining country.
"Through my trainer Bud Lyon,
we will be teaching interested individuals how to become a reining trainer," said Sherry. "This process will include
how to run an efficient barn, a well run ranch, and how to train a reining horse from
starting a colt to finishing a reining prospect."
She also added that an important part of the internship process will be learning how to work with non pro clients, which is a major part of the reining industry.
In addition to working with Bud, who is an accomplished trainer himself, apprentice riders will also go to other ranches with Bud, who often rides with reining neighbors such as Tim McQuay and Troy Heikes, and several others who have ranches close to Star Ranch.
"This tremendous opportunity takes time and even six months is
almost too short a period," noted Sherry. "I am offering this opportunity, which will include free housing and food."
Star Ranch is located in Aubrey, Texas, close to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
