- Lyon is New Head Trainer
Star Ranch is pleased to announce the arrival of new head trainer Bud Lyon. Lyon, a reining and cow horse trainer, has relocated his business from Scottsdale, Ariz., to the Star Ranch. Lyon made the move after the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity in October, and is looking forward to growing his business in the heart of horse country.

“I knew there would be a lot of opportunities in Texas, and it’s a little closer to the biggest shows, so it was a logical move for me,” said the 31-year-old Lyon. “I’m very excited to be training out of the Star Ranch, and I look forward to working with the owners, Sherry and Allen Adams.”
Lyon will be riding the Adams’s horses in addition to taking in both reining and cow horse prospects for training, and working with non pro clients.

Prior to moving to Texas, Lyon worked for NRHA Futurity Champion and renown horse trainer Randy Paul. Lyon has been a limited and intermediate open finalist at the Snaffle Bit Futurity, and also been a finalist at the National Reining Breeders Classic. During his amateur career, Lyon also won the AQHYA Youth World Reserve Championship Reining title in 1996, as well as the AQHA Amateur World Championship title in 1998.
